Ah yes,... the problems wth cold water deep diving. at least your other group found their way. Could have been worse. I'm hoping to do some deep diving during Memorial day weekend. I've got to get used to that again, after the warm waters of malaysia. Don't have any pictures as I managed to lose my new underwater camera on a night dive. Tucked it under may arm to get my light & It floated away. never did find it.
If you can get past the first 10 ft, it's cool. A couple of guys said down deep, it's crystal clear. I haven't been deep in a while. I need to get back in practice, as I'd like to teach deep diving at the quarry. My ntsructor requires that we go through with him to teach deep there because of the things that can go wrong. He actuallypaid me a compliment when he said that I was probably one of the only instructors there with the experience of deep diving there to be able to teach it.
I was with a beginner last week, so I stayed in the shallows. The temps were about 65 on the surface about 60 at the bottom of the shallow area. From the surface to 10 ft it was a milky 0 viz (limestone washed down from the rains, I assume). Below 10 ft, it cleared some to about 15ft of viz. There's a thick layer of algae growing on the bottom.
