Dive Report for 11/17/07
Arived at the Dive Shop at 7am for a 8am departure, got our dive gear loaded up and headed to the dock to load the boat.
One of our divers got lost on the way to the Marina so we didn't get away from the dock till 9am (O well not in a hurry anyway).
Headed out to check out a new found spot about 20 nm off shore. Arived on site and myself and my buddy John hit the water and went to the bottom at 103fsw, I think this is a old Crew Boat and it looks to have been down for a long time and made a Great Dive site. It is loaded with marine life including a large Goliath Grouper and a field of garden ells. we made a 35 min. dive and returned to the boat to let the second group of 4 divers hit the water. They were down about 25 - 30min. and reported seing a LARGE Mako shark about 10 - 12 foot long (sorry no pictures).
Second Dive of the day coming soon.
Second Dive of 11/17
Sorry it took so long to post this second dive.
Dive #2 we decided to do a site called Rome, this site consist of some old bridge structure with several sections of colums that rise up from the bottom about 30'. This is s great dive site due to the relief and the area that it covers.
John and myself splashed and made our desent to tie off the line to one of the colums for our desent and assent line to the boat.
After tying off we noticed a good number of AmberJack crusing the reef. I, looking for a meel picked one of the bigger ones and took my shot hitting it right behind the eye then bringing it in with out much trouble. John, on the other hand was not so lucky. He picked one, took his shot and while the AJ was pulling, a large Bull Shark showed up and decided he wanted Johns fish he (the bull shark) bit the fish at the end of his spear shaft and won the battle.
John was pumped when he made it back to the boat.
These are some awsom creatures and we love to see them.
Another GREAT Day in the Nothern Gulf of Mexico.
